When someone has a friend or family member that is going through a difficult time they often don’t know who to call. Unfortunately, this means that many individuals in crisis are not getting the help they need. Often family and friends are reluctant to get help because they are just not sure of the signs. Through our free Mental Health Connections program we help more than 4,000 individuals each year find the mental health information and services they need in Orange County, FL.
In addition to providing mental health counseling in Orange County, FL, MHACF also provides mental health support as a guardian advocate to the more than 600 individuals each year who are involuntarily confined to a behavioral hospital when there is no family member or friend to take care of them. MHACF’s mental health services play a crucial role in helping these individuals cope when they suddenly find themselves involuntarily hospitalized. Our guardian advocates are professionally trained volunteers who provide the best possible care to those who are involuntarily hospitalized as well as crisis support to family members.
MHACF’s Outlook Clinic has been instrumental in providing some of our most vulnerable members of society, the indigent and uninsured with comorbid disorders, with the mental health services they need to cope with their illness. Many of the people we have helped were able to return to the workforce and regain their footing as productive members of society again.
