Counseling Connections in Orlando, FL

The Mental Health Association of Central Florida (MHACF) is a non-profit organization that helps individuals find counseling connections in Orlando, FL. MHACF is a free referral service that operates throughout Central Florida, including Altamonte Springs, Kissimmee, Lake Mary, Sanford, and Lake County, Orange County, Osceola County, and Seminole County areas.

Counseling Connections Program

Through our Counseling Connections program, the Mental Health Association of Central Florida helps over 4,000 individuals in the Orlando area each year find the individual counseling, including anxiety counseling, and psychiatric services they need. We also help concerned family members and friends who call our referral service understand the signs of someone in mental distress. MHACF also advocates for individuals involuntary confined in a mental hospital that have no one else to care for them.

Mental Health Wellness

Mental health is critical to wellness. Unfortunately, many individuals throughout Central Florida suffer from anxiety and other mental health issues but don’t know whom to call or what type of psychiatric services are available. In other cases, individuals, family members, and friends don’t understand the signs that their loved one may be experiencing a mental health issue. These signs include persistent sadness, confusion, inability to concentrate, excessive fears, extreme mood swings, suicidal thoughts, and difficulty sleeping, to name a few. Sometimes a mental issue can become so severe that it interferes with daily life.

According to recent statistics, approximately 19% of adults and 9.2% of children in the U.S. experienced mental health issues in 2017-18. There is also an increase in individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many people who feel lonely or have other health issues can become depressed. If the mental health issue is not treated, it could lead to serious health problems, including death.
